The aim is to process these documents in a timely manner and guidelines incorporating the procedures and other relevant information have been developed to ensure that the correct supporting documentation is submitted in order to avoid any undue delays. The Bahamas On-line Registration Information System (BORIS) enables registered users to securely submit applications electronically, via the web, for Bahamas Flag State Endorsements, Seaman Record Books, Ship Security Officer, Offshore and other relevant training and proficiency certificates on behalf of seafarers who are employed or intended to be employed on board Bahamian registered ships. In accordance with the STCW requirements, The Bahamas has signed agreements with some STCW parties for the recognition of seafarers training, the list of countries are outlined in BMA Bulletin No. 121
The BMA has developed an industry leading online registration information system (BORIS) for registered owners, ISM managers and authorised manning agents of Bahamas registered vessels.
